Jarrel Armstrong CMT

Originally from New Jersey and with a sports background in football and track and field, I decided to combine my passion for anatomy and kinesiology by obtaining my certification from NCBTMB after completing coursework at the Virginia School of Massage in Charlottesville. I specialize in providing relief with sports massage as well as other massage techniquesincluding Swedish, Deep Tissue, Medical and Trigger point. I have created a comfortable environment that strives to educate patrons on the importance of body awareness and the benefits of massage. I have worked with various athletics programs, including Track and Field, Women’s and Men’s basketball, Football, Swimming, and Tennis teams. I utilize my knowledge of sports-related injuries to assist athletes in managing injuries and to educate them on ways to improve whole-body movements, in order to decrease the potential for further injuries. These skills of awareness are beneficial to all, not just athletes.
I am committed to educating people on the benefits of massage and to help integrate massage for a better quality of life.

I began my journey into the healing arts in the fall of 2015. I had studied biological sciences and plant pathology because I’ve always been fascinated with the intricately beautiful systems that make up living organisms. After landing a corporate research position to work with industrial agriculture chemicals, I realized I had made a wrong turn somewhere in my career path. And so I went back to school to study Swedish massage. As I developed an interest in deep tissue modalities, I earned a certification in Integrative Muscle Movement Technique, which utilizes passive muscle movement during the massage. I have also been studying Western Folk Herbalism, and hope to become a community practitioner in the future. In my spare time I work on plans for a mobile tiny house, design and establish edible perennial gardens for myself and friends, and tinker with various DIY crafts.

Jarrel did an excellent job giving me a message. He was thorough, asking questions ahead of time, working on me and showing me how I can help myself during the day to day. I highly recommend Jarrel!

I just received my second Phenomenal massage from Jarrel! The most relaxing, serene, and tranquil hour I can give myself once a month. He’s definitely my sought after peace and relaxation…that keeps giving!!! Knows just how to read your body. I extremely recommend him!!

Jarrel is the best. One of the best massages I have ever had. He listened to my concerns and treated every area. Left feeling so much better. Very nice person and easy to talk with.

Jarrel is personable, competent, friendly and (important to me) very strong. He treated me for an old shoulder injury over several sessions and found every little muscle that needed attention and care. I recommend him highly for both relaxation and pain-management/injury recovery. He’s among the best!

Jarrell provided a strong, firm massage which combined a good amount of general attention to areas that were stiff and sore. He also has the ability to focus in on particular areas that need more focus and work. He was professional, personable and provided a few recommendations for work between appointments. This was my first appointment and there will be more.
